I got up my courage today and cut my nice IKEA wood counter slab down to size, going from a stock 25.5″ to a tiny 18.5″ width. I’m going to use the extra wood to frame out the sink portion of the counter.
I added some primed pine edging and screwed the counter in from below. I’m happy with how it came out, the wood counter surface has a nice warmth to it. I head back to IKEA tomorrow for a smaller sink with no drain pan to fill in the gaping hole on the left.
Looks great! I am toying with bench depths at the moment, it can be tricky to imagine what will be enough..

Thanks for the compliment. I’m an analog sort of guy, so find it helpful to mock up clearances before I start cutting wood. I laid out my WC and kitchen outlines in tape on my garage floor and used cardboard cutouts and boxes to approximate different fixtures to help optimize the flow.
