Door Day Afternoon

Installing the door hardware went fast enough, but getting the door to play nice with the door stop and weather stripping dragged into the afternoon. The main problem was that the weatherstrip (an EPDM foam gasket) out of the package is very puffy, so it was preventing the deadbolt from latching. I remounted the deadbolt which helped a little and after leaving the door closed overnight, the foam compressed a bit, making the door easier to close. We’ll see how it performs in the winter when doors tend to swell up – I predict this won’t be the last time I fiddle with the door.
